To sustain a Paleo diet I strongly suggest you learn how to cook.
I love to cook. I went through a major cooking phase a year ago which has settled down a bit; kinda like the South Park episode. I bought every pan, knife, and gadget that I thought I needed.
I learned that there is a lot of useless cooking crap out there. However, there are some staples that anyone who spends money on food should have. Some of these tools are inexpensive while others will set you back a few pennies.
This short list comprises the staples of a outfitted amateur kitchen. The beautiful thing about cooking tools is you buy it once and it will last forever with proper care (usually).
A set of Cast-Iron
skillets will cost less than $100.
A set of All-Clad
stainless pots and pans will set you back about $500+.
A few quality Victorinox
knives will top $100 usually.
A Staub
dutch oven is usually around $200 and will last forever and then some.
A Scanpan
non-stick is an absolute must and averages $100.
The rest of your equipment will include ladles, graters, spatulas, whisks, and strainers. Buy quality metal equipment and avoid the cheap plastic stuff as it won’t last.
*Mega Super Hint: Buy A Fish Turner
(It flips more than fish and is worth every penny)
